Art, Film and Media

The world is changing, and creative problem-solving is becoming an imperative. At the Bath School of Art, Film and Media we will teach you how to harness method and imagination with technical skill to become a resilient and motivated maker.

My Fine Art degree at Bath Spa meant the difference between collecting ideas in notepads, and seeing them realised on gallery walls and beyond.”

TREVOR SMITH, BA (HONS) FINE ART GRADUATE

About the School

The disciplines of AFM have only recently come together under the umbrella of a single School.

However, the School itself is steeped in history. The school was founded as Bath School of Art in 1852 following The Great Exhibition.

The School is spread across two of our campuses in Bath,

  • the first being our beautiful, very green, Newton Park Campus on the Edge of the city of Bath, which has both modern and traditional buildings, and even has a lake and a 14th century castle, and
  • secondly, our Locksbrook campus, which is based in the West of Bath, on the river Avon, which has a more industrial feel. Our site at Locksbrook is the restored Herman Miller building, for which we have won many architectural awards.

We are very proud of our School of AFM, it has great student satisfaction results and has made great strides in research over the past Research Excellence Framework cycle.
